PITO (Industrial & Rough Terrain)
Class Description:
The PITO (Powered Industrial Truck Operator) Industrial & Rough Terrain class is an 16-hour program designed to provide IKORCC members with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely operate powered industrial trucks: fork lifts and telehandlers. This course focuses on equipping participants with the essential understanding of forklift operations and safety protocols.
During the class, IKORCC members will learn about the various types of powered industrial trucks, their components, and their functions. They will gain knowledge of load capacity, stability principles, and maneuvering techniques specific to forklift operations.
Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on practical training, participants will develop proficiency in essential forklift operations, including proper startup and shutdown procedures, load handling techniques, and maneuvering in confined spaces. They will also learn about safety procedures, such as pre-operation inspections, hazard identification, and pedestrian awareness.
