We have a multi-part curriculum for Secondary and Post-Secondary students aligned to our expectations for our first year apprentices. Completion of this curriculum gives you the possibility of direct entry into our program with up to one year of credit.
We also have partnerships in place with some high school carpentry, welding, and industrial maintenance programs across Indiana and Kentucky. These also allow students completing their program’s Certificate of Initial Mastery, passing the Kentucky TRACK Carpentry exam, or completing a specified course sequence to be accepted into our program based on an Articulation Agreement with certain schools, districts, and even state Offices of Career and Technical Education.
What could this this mean for you immediately?
- Shorter Term of Apprenticeship
- Increased Benefits
- Access to Advanced Coursework
- Increased Earnings
- Increased Job Satisfaction
- More Skill-Based Opportunities
Did we mention increased earnings?
Just doing what you are supposed to do in school can increase your earnings in your first year by up to $4000.
Articulation Agreement
The Articulation Agreement is a contract between us and your school. It states if the school provides specific training, and you fulfill specific requirements during school, we will provide the opportunity for direct entry into our program. The basic requirements needed while in the articulated program are as follows:
92% Attendance
One of the biggest complaints we hear from employers has to do with attendance. They are counting on you to be there in order to get their project done on time.
2.0 GPA
We need to know you are going to try. School is tough. There are lots of factors that can contribute to low GPA such as home environment and test anxiety, the list could go on and on.
High School Diploma
This is a requirement to be brought in under an Articulation Agreement, much like the GPA requirement, we want to know you stuck with it.
Letter of Recommendation
Your reputation will follow you for your entire life, and what you do in school matters. Good recommendations from your teacher generally transfers into good recommendations from your foreman and superintendent. That’s how you get and keep jobs.
Keys To Success
Its All About Straight A’s… No, Not The Grades!!!
Attitude
Turn that frown upside down! Have a positive attitude, it’s contagious and employers and co-workers love it. Have you ever worked with someone and all they do is complain about everything? That’s contagious too. Be happy, you’re making good money and benefits. You are WAY ahead of the curve.
Attendance
You may be a highly skilled craftsperson, but only if you’re at work. The people on your crew are depending on you to be there. If you’re not there, they have to make up for the work you would have performed. Be on time every day. If you’re not 15 minutes early, YOU’RE LATE!!!
Aptitude
The first two are all on you, but this one, we are here to help! It’s our job to teach you what you don’t know. You have DECADES of experience available to you as resources to learn new skills. Whether it’s your instructors, mentors, co-workers, journeymen, or other apprentices, we are all on Team YOU!
