Learning With an Emphasis On Building
Every year men and women come into our program with some college credits, or even an achieved degree. After an investment of both time and money, they find that their true calling is in the construction industry. This degree will still benefit them, any time spent learning is time well spent, but more than likely they have incurred debt. With our program your education is focused on building. Building college credits, building your future, and building your community with your skills. Through a balance of both lecture and shop time in every subject covered you learn not only the technical information but also the manipulative skills required as well, finishing with an Associates Degree from Ivy Tech and NOT A PENNY OF STUDENT LOAN DEBT from it.

Your learning doesn’t stop once you leave the training center, so some credits are associated with your on the job training you receive from the journeymen, foremen and superintendents you work with as well. All of this at a cost of $100/year for four years ($400 total) for the books and materials you will need for class plus the investment for the hand tools you will be required to have.

Training You To Lead
Leadership is a skill that comes usually with experience, trust and eventually shared by those that already have it as an attribute. We realize that in the construction industry, now more than ever, there is a vacuum of leadership in our trade due to men and women retiring and not enough skilled individuals in place to step in and take control. US News and World Report, FOX News, MSNBC and several other news outlets have reported on this just in the last year. To address this the UBC has created curriculum to help create the foreman, general foreman and superintendents for tomorrow, again available at no cost to the individual. These classes are through a contractor sponsorship and are:
- Superintendent training
- Foreman and General Foreman Training
- Master Rigger Program
Recognizing that you don’t have to be a boss to be a leader the UBC has created additional leadership programs for both apprentices and journeypersons, including:
- 212 Program
- .300 Heavy Hitter Program
- 3rd Year Apprentice Leadership Program
